Homosexuality
Everyone pretty much knows that the Christian Bible speaks against homosexuality. However, this does not give anyone the right to treat a homosexual person as less valuable than anyone else. It also does not make the person more condemned in the eyes of God than someone who lies, steals, or disobeys his or her parents. While practicing homosexuality is considered to be sinful, it is no different than any other sin. Many times when people take a particularly strong stance against homosexuality, they do it to take the focus off of their own sins and struggles. Instead of casting stones at people who have chosen a different life-style, we need to realize that everyone is valuable to God, everyone has personal struggles, and that no one deserves to be cast away because they have chosen to do something that you or I may not agree with.
I do not agree with the practice of homosexuality, and I do not condone it, but I would never hesitate to befriend someone who disagrees with me on this issue (or who is a practicing homosexual). They are still valuable people, and there friendship is too. Instead of casting stones, maybe we should all lend a helping hand. God is still working on me to change some of my bad habits and some of my wrong attitudes. God changes everyone as they come to know Him more. No one needs to be cast away from our presence because they are different, instead we need to help them as we all struggle to become better followers of Christ.
