Goth
There are a number of different types of Goths. Not all of them are morose. In fact, there are Candy Goths, Romantic Goths, Glamour Goths, Vampire Goths, Geek Goths, Business Goths, all kinds of Goths. Many of them are pacifists, and not given to violence. Some believe in green peace and are extremely concerned about the environment. Different people who consider themselves Goths also hold to a number of different religions, from New Age to Wicca, from Wicca to Christianity.
You should not be afraid of Goths, and you should not stereotype them as individuals who are violent, angry, or drug addicts. Some may be those things, but people who are not Gothic can also be those things.
Goth started in the early 1980s at the end of the punk era (the beginning of the post punk era). People who considered themselves Goths did not feel like they fit in with the rest of society for whatever reason, so they decided to take on an appearance that did not match with society. This does not mean that the people were un-happy. Many Goths are very happy, and they are proud of who they are. If you ever want to know more about what it means to be a Goth, my suggestion would be to get to know one.
